Frank Michaelis

As I was born in Hamburg, I inevitably came across issues surrounding trade, maritime shipping, banking, monetary policy and the economy in the Hanseatic city. The free trade of goods and services, which was started by the Hanseatic League in the 13th century and shaped the cosmopolitan attitude of the city of Hamburg, influenced my understanding of the free market from early on.

Our services enable business people and their families to outsource their financial matters to professionals, so that they are free to dedicate themselves to other aspects of their lives. I am the pilot, the captain, used to navigating the world’s oceans with large turning circles, and safely slipping through straits and port basins. I am motivated by the great benefit that we provide by mastering complexity.

Personal convictions

Values
My values were shaped by my family circumstances. Respect, moderation and decency are values which I live by and seek in all my relationships. Due to our international focus, I consider it a privilege to be able to hold dialogue and exchanges with other societies and be able to speak in favor of an open and respectful world view as a result.
Markets
The capital market is unquestionably the market that most shapes our work. The dynamic connection of (global) economic, political and social data, facts and trends fascinates me, week after week. The skill is to separate facts from rumors, short-lived opinions and speculations. This is one of the central tasks expected of us by our clients.
Trends
Technological innovations are the drivers of many crucial developments, which obviously also affect us as a family office. Digitalization brings with it new business fields and client expectations. As Finad, we are required to regenerate continually and not think in phases.
Risks
In our global world, progress and far-reaching networking are both linked to new risks. As a family office, we have to be able to recognize and manage these risks for our clients, be it through technology or our many years of experience and competence.
Countries
We work in an environment of global influences and trends. Of course, developments in Germany, Europe and Switzerland dominate my daily life, but I also have a private and professional fascination for the subcontinent of Latin America. Stimuli for our work also come from the US and we are also shaped by the start-up scene, irrespective of its geographical location.
People
Daily interaction with people really enriches my life. I have learned that dealing honestly with people is the source of all significant insights. The more different people are, the more interesting and diverse their knowledge.
